The Southeastern Neurosurgical and Spine Institute team specializes in
the diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of disorders and injuries
of the brain, spine, and peripheral nerves. We provide a full range of
neurosurgical services including:
Spine Surgery
A full range of simple and complex reconstructive spinal surgery services
are managed by employing the latest techniques and advanced instrumentation
including microscopy. Minimally invasive and percutaneous techniques are
available for patients with cervical and lumbar disc disease.
Brain and Spinal Cord Tumors
Surgical treatment for benign and malignant tumors of the brain and spinal
cord is performed in association with our medical and radiation oncology
colleagues, providing state of the art multidisciplinary care for our
patients. The use of stereotactic procedures for minimally invasive biopsy,
tumor resection, and real time intraoperative tumor resection is possible.
Vascular Brain Disorders
A variety of cerebrovascular disorders including cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous
malformations, carotid artery disease, and stroke are treated. A team
including interventional neuroradiologists is available to provide a multimodality
approach to these complex problems including surgery, endovascular techniques,
and modern intensive care.
Pediatric Neurosurgery
A variety of pediatric disorders including hydrocephalus, spasticity,
craniosynostosis, brain tumors, and congenital malformations of the brain
and spinal cord are treated by fellowship trained pediatric neurosurgeons.
Special capabilities include frameless stereotactic procedures, surgery
for spasticity, endoscopic intracranial procedures, biopsy of tumors,
placement of vagal stimulators for epilepsy, and placement and/or revision
of shunts for hydrocephalus.
Peripheral Nerve Disorders
Surgical treatment of the peripheral nervous system including intrapment
syndrome (carpal tunnel syndrome and ulnar neuropathy), post traumatic
pain syndrome, sympathectomies for pain relief, and brachial plexus injuries
or tumors is available.
Trigeminal Neuralgia
A variety of procedures for relief of trigeminal neuralgia including radiofrequency
rhizotomies, balloon compression, and microvascular decompression (MVD)
are available for treatment.
Emergency Care
24-hour a day neurosurgical emergency care for adult and pediatric patients
is available at both major hospital systems in Greenville County.
